The first reason is obvious, we have to make some money too in order to provide this website for the community. We make entering blogs free because we want to encourage a lot of traffic and interest for the site, and make our business advertising viable. Charging a small amount for distributing coupons is a fair deal.

The other, more subtle, reason is security. When I first started thinking about offering online coupons I was concerned about malicious people who would come online and enter some huge coupon, like 90% off everything in the store.... just to cause trouble. This is much less likely to happen if there is a charge for entering the coupons. We will also be keeping an eye on the site daily to make sure everything looks okay.

After you go through our shopping cart and purchase permissions to enter coupons a link will show in the left-hand column that you can click on and enter your first coupon. It's instant on checkout and will last the length of time you select before checking out.
